“Dry Wall”

Retaining walls MUST have drainage. Water accumulates behind retaining walls and makes the ground so heavy, even the strongest walls will lean and fall. So, timber walls rot, and solid walls fail.

We build retaining walls using blocks that are engineered for drainage. We use an open-graded, compacted, gravel footer. Perforated drain pipes with gravel backfill are installed behing the wall. Geogrid, a material that displaces weight, is installed in layers within this backfill. When the project is complete, the ground can release water over, under, behind, through the pipes, and even through the wall. It is always a pleasure to know that these structures will stand the test of time. They will be standing strong for future generations, long after we’re gone.
